Roger Federer is the world’s most expensive sports brand
Ever since social media has become an extremely important platform for ads, large companies pay huge amounts of money to those athletes who can reach as many people as possible. Sports sponsorships are so flourishing that they spend around 62 billion USD a year globally – Világgazdaság Online wrote.
Not surprisingly, the most sponsorships money can be found in football, the sport is the industry’s most prominent opportunity for brand building.
However, everything and everybody is overtaken by Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer, who gained 65 million USD from sponsorship money. The most significant amount (40 million USD), comes from the Barilla pasta manufacturer. (vg.hu, Kreivich Orsolya)
