Improved sales performance from wholesalers too
This year is the second when we asked wholesalers supplying the retail and HoReCa sectors about the market and their own performance. Approximately 20-25 wholesalers talked about their results; their combined HUF 1,000-1,200 billion sales increased by 10 percent on average.
There are about 200 FMCG wholesalers operating in Hungary. Their ranking is the same as it was in last time – and METRO is still the No.1 with gross sales above HUF 190 billion. Groups such as Mirbest performed very well last year, while the third strongest segment was drink wholesalers such as Central Drinks, Hansa-Kontakt and Z+D. Wholesalers understood the necessity of increasing their efficiency, and took steps in basically every field. Many of them launched an online shop or expanded their already existent online services. Based on the reports, we can be hopeful that we will be writing about their excellent results in 2019 at the same time next year. //
