In harmony with nature – in biscuit production too
Mondelez International expands its sustainability programme further: there are already 1,700 farmers from 7 European countries participating in the Harmony project. The company’s goal is to supply each of its European biscuit brands with wheat produced within the framework of the programme by 2022. On 30 May Mondelez International announced at a press conference in Lovosice (Czech Republic) that this year Hungary had joined the programme. What is more, two more biscuit brands, belVita and Barni also joined Harmony.
In the summer months the Harmony logo will appear on all of the company’s participating biscuit brands. At the moment Harmony covers 60 percent of the company’s European biscuit production in Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Poland, Spain and from this year in Hungary. Flora Schmitlin, the company’s Harmony EU programme manager told: their mission is to foster sustainable wheat production. She introduced the Harmony Charter, which tells farmers how to cut pesticide use, CO2 emission and water use, and how t to ensure biodiversity on their lands.
