Model project of the successful Shell Café network debuts in Hungary, and offers a new kind of shopping experience
The Hungarian Shell Café network is one year old and recently a new type of unit has been added to the chain: the world’s first Shell Café destination store opened at the Gelej exit of the M3 motorway in July 2022, primarily targeting e-car charging customers. It is located in a special, air-conditioned container, which is really easy to set up. Shell’s plan is to build a network of Shell Café destination stores, as points of sale offering a special customer experience at classic service and e-charging stations where there is no Shell café.
Today there are Shell Cafés at 131 Hungarian service stations, waiting for customers with a premium product selection and a top coffee experience. Freshly brewed barista coffee specialties are made from 21,000kg exclusive quality coffee, from which more than 3 million cups were sold since the opening one year ago. Hungarian customers can choose from a variety of baked goods, hot dogs and sandwiches too.
