“The hospitality industry has reasons for optimism in 2024. It is good news that in 2023 global tourism has already reached 88% of the key metrics of the 2019 ‘golden year’, and has every chance of performing at similar level in 2024. Although the number of tourists and overnight stays is growing, habits have changed, e.g. hotel reception desks are already having problem with the number of food deliveries ordered by guests. The large numbers of workers who have left the hospitality industry are still not returning, and labour shortages will continue to be a pressing problem this year. Hospitality will continue to be driven by vegan, vegetarian and flexitarian needs, which in recent years have created a kind of gold rush in the meat substitute market”. //
