Profession.hu : This is why job seekers will be fed up with the hiring process
Looking for a job is a time-consuming task, in the previous quarter it took an average of 4 months to find a position, but it can take up to 10 months. During the long process, even valuable applicants leave the waiting list, while many take part unnecessarily in the recruitment process because, due to the poorly worded job advertisement, it does not become clear for a long time that the selected position is not suitable for them, or that they are not suitable for it. . It is also a common experience that the employer sets higher expectations in the advertisement than what is actually needed to perform the job.
Profession.hu’s nationwide research revealed that four out of ten Hungarian jobseekers have ever left a recruitment process, resigning from the selected position, and a quarter of them made this decision at the very beginning, after sending the application. All this despite the fact that in many cases the application itself involves a significant investment of energy, since for many professions and employers this requires the preparation of at least a CV and a cover or motivation letter, which can also be expanded with a professional portfolio, letters of recommendation, and the collection of official documents. Those who pass this round invest significantly more energy in their job search and give up when preparing the trial job (11% of job seekers who have ever left the hiring process have done so), but it is more common for candidates to not show up for the personal interview ( 29%), and 14% did not complete the second round task.
There is definitely room for improvement in terms of communication, as those who leave the application process in the middle often disappear without a word: only every second (54%) respondent indicated to the company that they no longer wanted the opportunity.
“The number of employees who go through the entire recruitment process, prepare and send the entire package necessary for the application, and then change their mind at the end is not insignificant either. Of those who ever abandoned the application, a fifth did so when they already had the selected job: 5% did not show up when the contract was signed, while 14% had already gone through the official entry procedure, but left before it was finalized, during the trial period “
Blanka Dencső, market research and business development expert at Profession.hu, explained the lessons learned from the research.
