Nébih: three hundred kilograms of illegally stored fish were released back into the Csepel gravel mine pond

Three hundred kilograms of illegally stored fish were released back into the Csepel gravel pit, the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) told MTI on Thursday.

They explained: the fishmongers of the Nébih State Fisheries Service (ÁHSZ) and the Hungarian National Fishing Association (MOHOSZ) carried out an extraordinary inspection on the gravel mine river in Csepel at the beginning of October.

Fifty-six cases are currently being investigated for violations of fish protection legislation. According to the announcement, the fish wardens – who checked compliance with the fish protection legislation from a boat – experienced significantly more irregularities than expected: unauthorized fishing, fishing, fishing with more rods than allowed, lack of keeping a catch log, and due to non-compliance with the quantity and size restrictions, the fish wardens 12 the license was taken from the fisherman.

During the action, the fish wardens removed a total of 82 devices placed in the water, left unattended, most of which were not suitable for professional fish storage, such as fish nets, dishwasher drums, cages, and pots, from which more than 300 kilograms of fish were released. Most of the fish were injured and completely emaciated, they added.
