Magazin: MVI-NAV talks
On 26 September 2108 the representatives of the Guild of Hungarian Restaurateurs (MVI) and the Pest County Directorate of the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) met to discuss the topic of peeled-off and damaged tax stamps.
NAV director Dr Mihály Minya stressed the importance of dialogue between the parties, while MVI president László Kovács said thank you for the opportunity to discuss the problems.
MVI’s representatives called attention to the fact that tax stamps are often glued badly on bottles, and because of this the strict procedure of replacing it can’t be followed in every case – there are simply too many accidents like this. NAV’s representatives told that it would be of great help to them if bar and restaurant owners collected the names of those manufacturers and distributors, whose products often produce this phenomenon. Another problem mentioned was that when a bottle of alcoholic drink is opened, the tax stamp is often torn and it becomes impossible for the tax authorities to check the data on it.
Besides the tax stamp problem, the two parties also talked about how tips should be managed from a VAT perspective, the issue of indicating the service fee on the menu and how the 50-percent discount occasionally given to workers should be separated from non-salary benefits. In these topics NAV is waiting for questions to be sent in writing, which they will answer. //
