Hot dogs have been present in our lives for many centuries. The food of German origin is first mentioned in sources from the 13th century, to be precise, it appeared in the gastronomy of the time in the 1270s. From the very beginning, the hot dogs were made under strict control: at first only pork could be used and they were stuffed with sheep intestines. This type of hot dog bears the name Frankfurt because it comes from the city of Frankfurt am Main. Frankfurt sausage dominated the market for a long time, but its monopoly was broken in 1805 thanks to Johann Georg Lehner, a master butcher of Swiss origin. Lehner used the knowledge he acquired in Germany in Vienna, moreover, he slightly reconsidered his hot dog recipe, with which he entered the history of hot dogs. Namely, with the revolutionary innovation with which he created the Vienna hot dog, that is, the new kind of hot dog in which, in addition to pork, beef also appeared. Lehner not only innovated, but also broke a rule, since at that time, as you can read above, it was forbidden to mix different types of meat in hot dogs. The Vienna hot dog II.
