Market of meat for the grill far from being saturated yet
The most seasonal meat product category, that of meat for grilling shows constant growth. Within this category, sausages are still the biggest segment, but marinade meat, Vienna sausages and other types are also available now. – There is still a lot of hidden potential in the market – says Zsolt Kazai, managing director of Landhof Hungária Kft. Their sales were 30 per cent up this April, compared to a year earlier. The primary sales channels for grill products are hyper markets and supermarkets. At the same time, this category is also somewhat impulsive as it is dependent on weather. – As retail chains had recognised the potential in grill products, the assortments of private labels have also expanded remarkably – adds Zoltán Szántó from PICK Szeged Zrt. In this market, not only Hungarian, but German flavours are also popular as well. According to Emese Kovács, from Master Good Kft., Austrian and German companies had introduced grill sausages to the Hungarian market originally and their effect is still significant. More exotic flavours and shapes are also expected to appear eventually. This year, whole chickens in various flavourings and grill sausages with paprika and cheese will be the main new products in the assortment of Master Good. Kométa 99 Zrt., has made minor changes in the spicing of Kométa Finom Grillek. products but the packaging and quality is the same as we have got accustomed to. .Kométa has taken the weather into consideration, as their sausages can be prepared in simple teflon pans, without using oil. 25 per cent of Landhof grill products are new this season. Their Gyros is flavoured with Mediterrenean spices and garlic, while Salsa Turkey is made with piquant flavouring. Landhof white sausage is a representative of classic Austrian flavours. The biggest news about Délhús Grill is that their name is still the same, although Délhús Zrt. fused with PICK Szeged Zrt. last year. However, what is apparently new is the packaging they use. Their assortment is based on well-proven products. One of their new items is Könnyű Ízek Sajtos grill sausage, which can be eaten by people sensitive to soya and gluten.
