The 12-month internship program of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has opened
EFSA welcomes applications from young professionals with different scientific and professional backgrounds (scientist, IT, communication and legal, etc.) until May 15, who are open to try themselves in a challenging, dynamic, stimulating and multicultural environment, and who they want to build a career within an EU agency helping to create a more sustainable and safer food chain.
The EFSA internship program offers applicants a unique opportunity to join a team of professionals from around the world working together in an international and multicultural environment on scientific, safe food and sustainability projects at the heart of European food safety activities.
Under the supervision of a designated advisor, trainees have the following opportunities:
• gain experience in the work of a European Union agency, developing new competencies and skills in accordance with their personal interests and career goals;
• contribute to the department’s agenda by supporting the preparation of documents and reports, analyzing data, performing scientific and/or administrative tasks, and quickly communicating results;
• contribute innovative ideas and solutions to inspiring projects and specific activities;
• contribute to the planning and monitoring of the unit’s activities;
• develop through on-the-job learning and participate in various development initiatives.

Regarding the program, EFSA is organizing an online briefing on May 5, 2023 between 11:00 and 12:15, the aim of which is to provide applicants with useful information about the eligibility conditions and the schedule, and to give a comprehensive picture of the EFSA 2023 of its one-year, versatile internship program. For an even more comprehensive picture, current and former interns will share their experiences during the briefing.
