In Hungary, the health sector gives nearly 10 percent of the GDP
In Hungary, the healthcare industry, including medicine, herbal medicine, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology gives nearly 10 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). This sector is a dynamically developing industry – Lepsényi István, Minister of State of the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) told M1 news channel on Tuesday.
He added that Varga Mihály Ministry of National Economy and his Chinese colleague signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday on healthcare cooperation, as well as to sign agreements on university and corporate co-operations, the latter meaning concrete investments. The pharmaceutical industry and the health industry require huge investments, so we have to find the financial opportunities with which these investments can be realized – he said. At the same time, he pointed out that about half of the research and development expenditures in Hungary are in the pharmaceutical industry. (MTI)
