The supermarket chains buy melons from Hungarian suppliers
Tesco buys exclusively watermelons from Hungarian suppliers from 18 July again. The Auchan follows the example as well as Lidl, Aldi, the CBA, the Metro and Spar will only sell the watermelons of the Hungarian suppliers – origo.hu wrote.
Last year, a total of 7 million kilograms of Hungarian watermelon was sold, and this year sales are expected to exceed last year’s volume.
In the season, 100-200 tons of watermelons aere sold per day, while during a warmer summer weekend up to 300-400 tons are consumed. (origo)
