Less wheat and rape were produced this year in Tolna
Last year, five percent less winter wheat was harvested in Tolna County, while rapeseed production decreased by 10 percent, compared to the 2016 average; Producers explain the loss in crop yields with the droughty weather.
According to the latest data of the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK), autumn wheat yielded 6.27 tonnes per hectare after harvest has been completed on 69 percent of the 40,400-hectare production area, compared with an average of 6.58 tonnes in 2016. The yield of rapeseed, produced on 11 568 hectares became 3.4 tonnes per hectare, which was 10 percent lower, compared to the average yield of 3.95 tonnes last year. (MTI)
