Farmers can use three times more resources for investments
We are committed to continuously increasing the competitiveness of agriculture and the food industry and to protecting the environment – stated Minister of Agriculture István Nagy at the farmers’ forum held in Újfehértó on Thursday.

The head of the ministry drew attention to the fact that a change of era is taking place in agriculture in terms of technology, market and generation. Serious changes are taking place both at the economic and social level, and even in terms of consumer habits and needs. That is why it is a competitive advantage in agriculture today if farmers respond to new conditions with adequate knowledge, sufficient adaptability and openness, he added.
The minister called the European Commission’s adoption of the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) the biggest success of last year.
This ensures development opportunities for all Hungarian farmers and creates the conditions for the development of sustainable production practices. Together with the outstanding 80 percent national budget contribution, the EU funds provide the Hungarian countryside, farmers and food processing enterprises with more than ever before, around HUF 5,300 billion. Thanks to historical resources, the productivity of Hungarian agriculture can increase by one and a half times, and the added value by two times by the end of the decade. Exports of almost 10 billion euros at the beginning of the decade may rise to 15 billion euros by 2030. With the efficient use of resources, we will build processing agriculture alongside productive agriculture, added István Nagy.
The head of the ministry also mentioned that the most important task of the next period will be the launch of new agricultural policy measures and the preparation of farmers and the institutional system. The website of the Ministry of Agriculture and the website (https://kap.mnvh.eu/) that provides news about the situation of the Common Agricultural Policy in Hungary also continuously contain news and information about the application system.
