Winners’ Games 2021
The winners of the Shop! Gllobal Awards were announced. Only national and regional gold medalists can enter this competition, so it is considered the „Oscar” for the POP industry.
The German-speaking entrants held in, receiving a total of 6 awards. The Brazilians 3, the North Americans 2, the Chinese, the Czechs, the United Arab Emirates and the Hungarians received 1-1 world championship recognition. Participants have seen during the ceremony, that instead of the Indian statue Shop! introduced a new “exclamation point” trophy design this year. We have already reported in detail about the Hungarian victory.
Three nations – six awards
The organization POPAI DACH brings together German, Austrian and Swiss member companies in the field of Marketing at Retail. The Local POP competition is popular and inspiring. The organization works closely with the EuroShop Düsseldorf trade fair, which takes place every 3 years, where an international POPAI village and forum stage are run and the entries for the POPAI DACH POP competition are also exhibited.
At Shop! Gllobal Awards in the Digital, Mobile & Interactive Media category the Migros grocery store chain won with the sticker album with AR (augmented reality) loyalty campaign. And the sustainability category was won by Papacks in Cologne with its refillable coffee capsules.
4 German victories are attributed to Samsung. In the Shopper Marketing Campaign category, Samsung-Reimagine StreetARt won with its exciting campaign with street, art-technical, AR and VR interactions.
The winner of the Department Store Design category was Samsung’s Frankfurt showroom. Samsung won the Consumer Electronics Temprorary category with the SloMo-Gyroscope display. Visual Merchandising & Window Dressing category winner is tied to the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S10 in which the shop windows have been spectacularly digitized. As the first such appearance, all the shopwindows of the most famous German store, KaDeWe in Berlin, were “occupied” by the winning “The Art of Innovation” campaign.
Champions of North and South America
The Alcohol & Tobacco permanent category was won by the Brazilian Wine store 020, which opened its first physical store after decades of online operation. The Brazilian Snickers truck came out victorious in the Food, Grocery & Convinience temporary category. The third Brazilian award went for the Category Management category, the jury awarded a project of digitalisation wine shelves.
The Food Retailers & Hospitality Design category was won by the Krispy Kreme Times Square Flagship store in New York. The well-known doughnut chain in the United States created a unique exterior and interior appearance. In the Food, Grocery & Convinience permanent category, the Mountain Dew Pop-a-Shot interactive basketball display proved to be the best.
POP in the Middle and Far East
The winner of the Field & In-Store Promotion came from POPAI Greater China’s expanded competition and reached the international final with the introduction of the Pepsi Black Mena in the UAE, which was nominated by a local company, making it one of the Shop! Global Awards trophy going to the Middle East.
The Chinese victory came with the introduction of Procter & Gamble Olay Future Purity omnichannel product launch. The installation was designed and executed by a local business who won the permanent category of Beauty & Cosmetics.
The 15th Global Award went to the specialty store concept category and were won by the Czech entry “The Streets: A sreetwear Mecca from design to realization”.
