Food labels – the lobby won again
The European Parliament voted for the mandatory nutrition labeling on foods, marketed within the community, but rejected the”traffic light” type of sign system requested by the NGOs.
On the basis of the decision of the European Parliament, in the future, the manufacturers in the cases of pre-packaged foods should include the energy, salt, sugar, saturated fatty acid content of the product and should also indicate that the component is how much proportion of the recommended daily amount – reports Világgazdaság Online.
