In its July report, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) significantly worsens its forecast for the expected performance of the world economy this year, Ceila Pazarbasioglu, director of the IMF’s strategy, policy and analysis department said at the meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bank leaders on the Indonesian island of Bali on Sunday.

The IMF further worsens its growth forecast for the world economy

Rising food and energy prices, slowing capital inflows to emerging markets, the coronavirus pandemic and weakening Chinese economic growth are “much more challenging” for decision-makers than previously expected, said Pazarbasioglu. “We see crisis after crisis, which is really hitting the world economy,” Bloomberg quoted Pazarbasioglu as saying.
