European wheat prices are moving upwards

The immediate export price of mill wheat arriving in Rouen (FOB) increased by $2 to $255/ton and between July 7 and August 4, September 256, October 257 (+$5) and December $259/ton (+5 dollars) at the same time. In Germany, the 12.5 percent protein spot crop was available for $284/t (+$12, FOB Hamburg). The spot market price (FOB) of 11.5 percent protein mill wheat produced in Russia rose to $243/ton (+$10), and that of 12.5 percent protein rose to $238/ton (+$10). In Romania and Bulgaria, the mill wheat spot price was $243/ton (+$5). European wheat prices were driven up by the termination of the Black Sea grain delivery agreement and attacks on Ukrainian grain ports.

In the USA, the spot market price of red soft winter wheat (SRW) decreased by $14 to $247, and that of red hard winter wheat (HRW) decreased by $19 to $326/ton in the indicated period. In Argentina, due to the drop in export demand, the price of the crop for immediate October export both dropped by $9 to $331/ton, while the crop for December delivery was still available for $280/ton at the beginning of August (Tallage).

In Hungary, according to AKI PÁIR data, edible wheat was traded at an average producer price of HUF 64.9 thousand per ton without VAT and transport costs in the first week of August

This price level is 53 percent below the year before. Feed wheat traded for HUF 61.2 thousand/ton (-54 percent) at the same time. The September settlement price of ISCC NUTS II sustainable fodder wheat on the Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE) was unchanged at HUF 66,000/ton between July 31 and August 11. On the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME/CBOT), the September quotation for wheat fluctuated between $230 and $245/ton on the observed exchange days. At the same time, the September quotation of the crop on the Paris commodity exchange (Euronext/MATIF) was in the range of 232–245 euros/ton.
