Aluminium cans are valuable
Aluminium is one of the most valued recyclable materials, and by recycling it 95% of the energy used in manufacturing new aluminium can be saved. In Hungary more than 1 billion aluminium cans are made and the global output is approximately 250 billion. “Every can is to be returned” is an initiative for promoting aluminium can recycling. Today shoppers can go to nearly 200 reverse vending machines, mainly at retail chains (SPAR, Auchan, CBA, Coop and Tesco); the money they get for the returned cans can be spent instantly in the shops. Returned cans can be back on store shelves in about 8 weeks.
