Job seekers want feedback after applying, but this is often lacking
Most employees are bothered by not receiving feedback on their job application, which often creates uncertainty. The reasons for this are those who see it in themselves, in the poor quality of the application submitted, or in the fact that they themselves were not sympathetic to the company – according to a recent, representative survey by Profession.hu. In order to maintain a good candidate experience and the company’s positive reputation as an employer, it is important for companies to pay attention to feedback.
A quarter of Hungarian adults are currently actively looking for work, even in addition to their current job. In the last two years, only 5% of job seekers could say that they received feedback from the advertiser on every application they sent. There are significantly more of them (18%) whose employers have never responded to any of their applications, and this phenomenon is more common in the case of people with a lower education. And 16% received an answer only if the screening of the applications ended with a positive result and they were called for a job interview, not if the result was negative.
We demand feedback
In the case of a negative answer, 55% of employees would be satisfied with a notification of the result, even automatically, while 42% would also like to receive a detailed explanation of the reason for the rejection. 44% would like to receive information even if the selection process is delayed and only 3% indicated that they do not need any notification. One in ten employees mistakenly attributes the reason for the missing answers to the job portal through which they applied for the position, the other respondents indicated the company that advertised the position.
