Companies are looking for the most recent graduates in the fields of engineering and finance
Although the opportunities for career starters with a higher education have narrowed somewhat compared to last August, there are still a number of areas that stand out, where the masses of fresh graduates are welcomed with open arms, and in the field of engineering, wages are still outstanding.
According to the domestic research conducted by Profession.hu at the end of 2022, the majority of Generation Z, who make up a significant proportion of recent graduates, spent between 1-3 months looking for a job, however, according to their own admission, one-third found it difficult to find a job, so they needed up to a year or even more time to find a job. to find your first job. The members of the Z, Y and X generations participating in the research all agreed that it is the easiest for the youngest to find a job, and that they have the most opportunities.
Judging from the number of job advertisements, the opportunities for recent graduates on the job market have decreased somewhat over the past year. Comparing the first seven months of 2023 and 2024, there was an 8.6 percent drop in the number of job advertisements offered to them. The background of this phenomenon, however, is not that there is less demand for their work, but rather a general phenomenon in the entire labor market, namely that in the current economic situation, companies have fewer opportunities to open new positions. Recruitment has slowed down at a significant number of companies, which can be said not only for career starters, but also for more experienced colleagues.
At the same time, there are areas where recruitment is particularly intense at the moment. Employees who graduated in the last three years are most sought after in the fields of engineering, finance, accounting, banking, insurance, and manufacturing.
Based on the resume database of the job portal, most graduate job seekers starting their careers can be found in the fields of administration, assistant and office work, sales and trade are the second most popular categories, and marketing, media, and PR are the third. The least number of recent graduates work or are looking for work in the agriculture, environment, business support centers and law, legal consulting categories.
