Supporting packaging-free is also important from the point of view of sustainability
The Ministry of Agriculture is committed to supporting innovations and innovative solutions that can move the Hungarian food industry forward – declared Márton Nobilis, the Secretary of State responsible for the food industry and trade policy of the Ministry of Agriculture, at the opening of the “Sustainable Trade – Producer Conference” in Budapest on Monday.
The state secretary emphasized that supporting packaging-free stores and openness to new sectors is an essential task for the sake of sustainability and environmental protection. The Association for the Protection of Interests of Packaging-Free Shops is also meant to help with this. The CSOMBÉK association now has 25 members and 72 such stores in Hungary. This also shows that there is a demand for the initiative. Rethinking or eliminating packaging can also make products cheaper, he added.
Márton Nobilis said that the Ministry of Agriculture is committed to ensuring that high-quality and safe Hungarian food is put on the table of Hungarian families. He explained that currently few foods are sold without packaging, however, the demand for them is increasing, and every day we can see more and more products without packaging.
