Tesco: food emerency truck will be used in the fight against food waste
Tesco is committed to reduce food waste, and for years it has supported the work of the Hungarian Food Bank Association as a strategic partner. This co-operation now raises the store chain to a new level in Debrecen with the donation of a pick-up truck. The Hajdú-Bihar County Food Bank Association will drive the saved food to the needy by car.
Tesco has been running its daily food-saving program together with the Hungarian Food Bank for many years. 160 of the 205 Tesco stores in Hungary are already taking part in the project. The aim of the supermarket chain is to prepare all of its Central European stores by 2020 for the charitable donations of food that can still be consumed but which can not be sold.
