Wizz Air was waiting for green fuel
By the end of the decade, Wizz Air plans to operate 10 percent of its flights with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). The new objective is a significant step in the company’s environmental protection strategy.
Wizz Air announced its 2030 commitment together with its partner, the British company Firefly, in a press conference.
In order to support research and development related to sustainable aviation fuel, last year, for the first time in its history, the airline invested 5 million pounds – i.e. more than HUF 2.1 billion – in the biofuel production company.
The efforts support Wizz Air’s commitment to further reduce carbon dioxide emissions per passenger kilometer by 25 percent by 2030.
