SPAR builds an entrepreneurial community
This year, SPAR also continued the professional training of its suppliers who, as domestic small businesses, found their products on the store chain’s shelves, and also provides assistance in building the entrepreneurial community: thus, suppliers participating in the Treasures of the Regions or Hungaricool programs can expand their network of contacts in addition to learning professional materials.
Pandemic, energy crisis, inflation – these are just some of the difficulties that every domestic business – including small businesses in the food industry – had to deal with in the last few years. It is important for SPAR Hungary to support family and small businesses in the domestic food industry, which is why it launched the Hungaricool product competition in 2019, and since 2021, within the framework of the Regional Treasures regional supplier development program, products from small domestic producers will be on the shelves of the supermarket chain.
A survey was recently commissioned by SPAR with the companies participating in the programs, which highlighted what is the biggest challenge for them in the current economic situation, and what kind of knowledge would most help them to level up.
For 76% of the respondents, it is important to learn the correct negotiation technique, almost as important to them is how they can remain competitive (64%) and how to develop their price strategy (64%). 60% of them considered the role of brand communication important in the recessionary environment, and 40% of them would like to gain more serious knowledge about how they can expand their customer base. And from a professional event, they primarily expect practical knowledge material, an opportunity to build relationships, and the presentation of trends.
