Sales of cosmetics and household chemicals kept growing
In the March 2014-February 2015 period retail sales of household chemicals and cosmetics valued at HUF 335 billion. Value sales were up 6 percent and volume sales improved by 2 percent. Mónika Barta, client service director of Nielsen told that after the negative sales trends of recent years household chemical product sales finally started to climb back to the level before the recession. Hypermarkets and drugstores were responsible for 66 percent of value sales. Although hypermarkets’ share dropped from 36 to 34 percent, drugstores’ share from sales rose from 31 to 32 percent. The 401-2,500m² channel’s share also grew 1 percentage point to 20 percent. n
