The coronavirus epidemic, the Russian-Ukrainian war and the erroneous Brussels sanctions have highlighted the fact that food supply is a strategic issue, one of the bases of which is agricultural land. Despite the challenges facing Hungarian agriculture, thanks to the dedicated work and diligence of farmers, safe food is always on the table of Hungarian families. Therefore, the Ministry of Agriculture supports the activities of the actors of the sector with all possible means, one of the basic means of which is the development of property policy measures that take into account the needs of farmers.

The notices for the sale of state land with an area of less than 10 hectares will be published on June 14, 2023 by the National Land Center on the Electronic Tender System

Anyone who meets the conditions stipulated in the law can make an offer for the advertised areas. Persons who do not qualify as farmers may also purchase land up to one hectare, and valid purchase offers for areas between one and ten hectares or property shares can only be received from natural persons listed in the farmer register. The announcements are also published on the websites of the local governments of the affected settlements. Purchase offers can be made for the advertised areas for 30 days.

In the announcements published on June 14, 2023, the National Land Center offers nearly 6,000 plots of land for sale in 1,600 settlements, covering an area of approximately 7,000 hectares

Of these, almost 2,000 parcels of land are being advertised for the first time, among them there are also forests with an area of 5-10 hectares. In addition, it is possible to re-bid for plots of land that were previously advertised but have not yet found a buyer. 40% of the land is arable, meadow and pasture, 40% is forested, and 20% is mixed.
