Between 25 September and 22 October METRO implemented its ‘Birthday Winning Weeks’ promotion campaign. The campaign ended with a spectacular cooking contest on 15 November, where the eight winners formed eight teams, pairing up with one of the following stars: Éliás Jr., Steve Hajdu, Andrea Keleti, Kisó, Dia Nyári, Anna Peller, Roland Szani and Linda Szunai. Those METRO customers had the chance to win who had bought any of the promotional products in one of the 13 METRO stores, in the value of minimum net HUF 5,000 – and uploaded their receipt data to www.metronyerohetek.hu.

The venue of the cooking contest was the modern, innovative and stylish METRO Gastro Academy, where catering professionals regularly participate in trainings. Restaurant owner and media personality Gianni Annoni was the host of the competition, and the teams had to cook a goulash soup, roasted pork knuckles and sweet cottage cheese dessert vargabéles, but there was a special challenge too: they had to use special ingredients as well.

Gastro Academy chefs István Gálicz and Zoltán Vidák, plus one of last year’s winners Piros Vágó were the members of the jury that evaluated the dishes. Cooking was great fun for every contestant and at the end the jury decided that the best main dish was made by Roland Szani and Tamás Boldog, Anna Peller and Narcisszusz Felső-Nemes cooked the best soup, and Dia Nyári and Antónia Daradics prepared the best dessert. Éliás Jr. and Zoltán Rátz were rewarded for their team work. The prizes were offered by De’Longhi, Kenwood, Braun, Tognana, METRO Gastro Academy and Wonderduck Agency Zrt.
