We asked the sponsors of the Gala Dinner and the Gundel Award ceremony – organised by the Guild of Hungarian Restuarateurs (MVI) – how they see the hospitality business right now.

Bidfood Hungary

Bidfood, the second biggest foodservice company in the world, contributes to the development of local gastronomy in every market where it is present. We are glad to have participated in an event like this, after the two years of Covid. Crisis periods always create an opportunity too. In the short term hard times are coming for the restaurant business, but if everyone in the supply chain improves the customer experience and the services they provide, hospitality will profit in the long run. Flexibility is essential right now. //

Tork

The Gundel Károly Award of the Guild of Hungarian Restaurateurs (MVI) is a prestigious prize, which represents a point of reference for the gastronomy profession. Respecting traditions, dedication to expertise and quality are all values that Tork represents as well – for 30 years now in Hungary. Guests of today show growing demand for healthy and organic food, sourced possibly from local producers. //

Hospitality is going through hard times and the future doesn’t seem any better. We have to bring the best out of this situation when opportunities arise! Top gastronomy has been doing very well in Hungary for years now, but I think that the culinary offering of festivals is lagging behind. Perhaps the only two exceptions are the Gourmet Festival and Svét. //

METRO

METRO is a stable supplier of businesses in the HoReCa sector, and the biggest sponsor of the Gala Dinner and the Gundel Károly Award ceremony – both are organised by the Guild of Hungarian Restaurateurs (MVI). This year’s event was special, as one could feel that the representatives of the trade gathered for the first time after three years. Participants were aware of the hardships they were facing, but their conversations were solution-focused. We need more occasions like this, to shake up the profession. //
