Heart health in the heat – Flora’s dietician gives tips
The change between seasons, fronts and extreme temperature fluctuations affect all of our bodies, regardless of age or health. Even in the autumn period, the raging summer heat is highlighted by the fact that there can be extreme temperature differences even within a few days. At the same time, the humidity, as well as the burdensome fronts for many, also pose a challenge to our organization, which has a serious task to adapt to the appropriate extent.
We can make the body’s work easier primarily by paying attention to our nutrition. If possible, eat easily digestible foods with a high water and liquid content, such as vegetable dishes and various soups. Heavier, fatty and spicy foods should be avoided, as they are stressful for the body, and their preparation is also more complicated in hot weather. By blending, you can easily make cold soups, such as Mediterranean gazpacho or cucumber soup. Salads are also more nutritious if you mix chopped cheese and couscous with them, but margarine-based vegetable creams can also be good solutions for warmer days.
