Friendly service and good prices: the keys to the success of 25-year-old Dél-100
From the local marketplace to the big league

Gross sales by the 25-year-old retail group Dél-100 Kft. amounted to HUF 33bn in 2022. At the end of the year, there were 163 GoodsMarket household and drug product stores and 39 PlusMarket food and drugstores in the franchise chain, which operates in South East Hungary.
Márta Barnáné Vitárius, managing director of Dél-100 Kft. told: the 39 PlusMarket stores were responsible for 42% of the group’s total sales revenue. She added that as a result of their new strategy, 2023 brought further strengthening for PlusMarket stores. There are more than 400 people working for the company. The Dél-100 Kft. story started between 1995 and 1997, when one of the owners, István Dobi started the enterprise with classics marketplace selling.
Expansion and nationwide presence
As a result of the progress of retail and the development of consumer expectations, the owners launched the GoodsMarket store chain in 2008, and the PlusMarket store network in 2013. István Dobi told that the latter has its own loyalty scheme now, and loyalty card holders will benefit from a large number of special offers in the future. The owners are reinvesting as much of the profit in the chain as possible. Plans include opening stores in other regions of the country, and increasing the number of PlusMarket stores to minimum 100. The long-term plan is running a nationwide store network, but it can’t be told at the moment when this will become reality.
