Every February the Virtual Café of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (KKVHÁZ) organises the Year Starting Tourism Summit. This event is a moderated debate, where about 40 representatives of the government, non-governmental trade associations, trade education, research and development, companies and various organisations such as the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV), the Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH), the Central Statistical Office (KSH), chambers and the National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NKIFH) sit around the table and discuss problems.
At the last meeting MVI brought the following problems to the roundtable – based on background material prepared by Károly Zerényi: regulation of the sector, funding and grants, research and development, trade education, competitiveness of the tourism sector. For instance MVI opined that one of the most important problems to which a solution needs to be found is tips: it isn’t easy to separate actual sales revenue and tips, while NAV is of the opinion that if the two sums aren’t separated, the owner of the bar or restaurant must issue a special receipt as non-sales money is being paid in the form of tips; the problem is that this would be very difficult to do as part of the busy daily operations of a bar or restaurant. //
