Kristóf Steiner and Gianni Annoni discuss the future of plant-based food
The Plant-Powered Perspectives conference will be held for the third time on 14 November 2023. This year, Hungary’s number one innovative plant-based food event will focus on hospitality, with talks from renowned experts such as Kristóf Steiner, Gianni Annoni and Levente Koppány.
On 14 November 2023, the METRO Gastronomy Academy will once again host the Hungarian leg of the series of events in Budaörs, which will be held in all V4 countries. The conference is a unique initiative in Hungary, which this year has not lost sight of its original goal, and focuses on following, advancing and coloring the plant-based trend. The event, which this year is primarily aimed at the hospitality sector, aims to provide professional information on trends challenging the traditional meat-based diet, such as flexitarian, vegetarian and vegan, and the dynamic expansion of innovative products, meat substitutes and plant-based proteins.
This year, participants will be able to listen to five presentations and four panel discussions. Dr. Olga Felkai Beáta, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, will speak on the official regulation of plant-based foods, but the day will also include discussions on the VAT content of plant-based beverages, plant protein intake, conflicts of interest in the catering industry and what Hungarians actually eat. The panel discussions will feature representatives and chefs from vegan restaurants such as Flow Coffee, Kis Padlizsán, Madhouse Budapest, Napfényes Restaurant, The Planteen, Veganeeta and Vegan Garden, while Levente Koppány, chef at Costes, will talk about the relationship between fine dining and plant-based dishes. For the first time this year, guests will also be able to participate in a rapid networking event organised by the Vegan Business Circle.
One of the most exciting events of the day will be a discussion between Kristóf Steiner and Gianni Annoni. Kristóf is a gastronomic writer and presenter, Gianni is a gastronomic expert and owner of the restaurant Pomo D’Oro – two people with different worldviews, but with much in common: they share a passion for food and a strong following. The two popular opinion formers exchange views on whether the rise of plant-based food is a passing fad or a harbinger of revolutionary change.
Gábor Garami will host the event, while Ágnes Gólya, journalist of Direkt36, will contribute to the event as a professional moderator. The event is sponsored by METRO and Nestlé, with Trade Magazine as media sponsor.
