SPAR Austria Veggie range sales more than doubled in the last five years
SPAR Austria is cooperating with the international organisation Veganuary for the first time, drawing consumers focus to plant-based meals this January. This is a trend that is reflected both in the increasing number of products and in increasing sales. The retailer’s own brand range includes over 800 vegetarian and vegan products, including 120 under the SPAR Veggie brand alone.
Plant-based nutrition continues to grow, as more and more people opt for vegan alternatives. In 2024, SPAR Austria will support the global initiative of the international organisation Veganuary for the first time. This organisation aims to inspire more people to adopt a vegan lifestyle.
The SPAR Veggie brand now offers 120 vegan and vegetarian products. The attractiveness of this diet is reflected in sales, with SPAR Veggie sales more than doubling from 2018 to 2023. Compared to the previous year, there was a 24% increase in sales. This makes 2023 the year with the highest sales since the introduction of the range in 2012.
In addition to SPAR Veggie, other SPAR Austria brands, such as SPAR Natur*pur or SPAR Vital, also include a variety of plant-based products – a total of over 600 vegan and 220 vegetarian. In addition, SPAR has an extensive range for vegans and vegetarians from various branded goods manufacturers.
