Attila Sófalvi, general manager of Mars in Hungary and Slovakia speaks about challenges, plans and necessary changes
Attila Sófalvi – who was appointed general manager of Mars in Hungary in 2017 – has been the head of Mars in Slovakia too, since 1 August 2021. This spring the Mars offices in Central Europe switched to new ways of working: the company’s Future of Work policy gives associates greater freedom in where, when and how they perform their tasks. Associates can now do 50% of their work from home.
With its Pedigree brand, Mars is working on ending pet homelessness, and for more than a decade it has also been busy making its offices pet-friendly. “Our Budapest office has always been pet-friendly, and it is very important for us to show how an office like this can contribute to the well-being of both associates and pets” – explained Attila Sófalvi.
Last year Mars announced that its associates did more than 45,000 hours of voluntary work in the last 13 years. Their voluntary work continues this year, both in person and online. “For Mars social responsibility isn’t just something we do, but an integral part of our operations. The pandemic caused disruptions in many fields in the last two years, including CSR work, but Mars associates managed to overcome these obstacles and carried on with their charity activities” – told the general manager.
