According to the European Commission, this year’s performance of the Hungarian economy is expected to exceed the EU average

As a result of the measures taken by the government to protect the economy and encourage a restart, Hungary may be able to overcome the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic sooner than the EU average, Minister of Finance Varga Mihály told MTI after an online meeting of EU finance ministers (Ecofin).

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Finance (PM), the minister added that according to the latest forecast of the European Commission, Hungary will achieve the seventh highest growth in the European Union this year. According to the European Commission’s latest economic forecast, economic growth is expected to be 3.7 percent at EU level by 2021, while Hungary’s GDP growth could be as high as 4 percent this year.
