Magazine: Parliamentary reckoning
The Business Days conference has become ‘the’ conference of the trade by now, a real ‘PRIME EVENT BRAND’ of the Hungarian FMCG sector. It is needless to say that this status also means great responsibility for the hosts, Trade magazin and the Chain Bridge Club, who must make sure that they keep monitoring themselves and continue working even harder to make further progress in the future.
What happened at the Business Days conferences of the last 10 years? One thing is sure, back in 2009 our ‘challenges’ were local, occurring in the space of physical stores. Since then the number of conference participants doubled, while the event itself got 1.5 times longer and the challenges of the Hungarian FMCG sector have become global, involving the online world too.
Consumption habits have changed very much in the meantime, together with the ways retailers can reach the shoppers with their products. This year’s conference featured the theme of the parliament and was trying to find the answers to the question posed by this transformed retail environment. We discussed macroeconomics, the Earth’s growing population and the e-commerce revolution – and many more other topical issues.
At the gala dinner the Lifetime Achievement Award went to the former head of the retail chain that performed a REAL miracle to survive in the past 10 years. I can only hope that their story continues in the next 10 years and I will be able to report to you about it then. You can read much more about the Business Days in the next two issues of Trade magazin.
