Today, the EU rules do not allow the use the name pálinka in the labels of distillates produced in Transylvania.
Recent days Fazekas Sándor Minister of Agriculture has announced that Hungary is looking for legal solutions for the use the pálinka name in Transylvania. The Hungarian Pálinka Knights Order in December agreed with the Pálinka Knights Order in Transylvania that the name of pálinka in Transylvania can be used in everyday language, and the members of both knights order will comply with the current statutory requirements for pálinka.
