October 16 – World Food Day
On the occasion of the World Food Day held on October 16, topics such as food security, the fight against hunger or planet-friendly eating come into focus every year. However, many people do not know that we can do a lot on an individual level, because with responsible food management in our homes, conscious purchases of small and large household appliances for the kitchen, and a little attention, we can all contribute to creating a more livable future.
In the product development of Gorenje’s small and large household appliances, sustainability aspects always play a prominent role. These technological innovations and innovative features go a long way towards reducing energy consumption, reducing food waste and creating a more sustainable future overall. In 1979, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) declared October 16 as World Food Day based on the proposal of Pál Romány, Hungarian Minister of Agriculture. Its goal is to draw attention to the problem of poverty and hunger and to make people aware that creating responsible food management at home is easier than we think.
