COCA-COLA HBC undertook to reduce its ecological footprint significantly
The Coca-Cola HBC, as one of the largest bottler of the Coca-Cola products is the world’s most sustainable bottler for the third time this year, according to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI). Now, the company published seven new ambitious undertakings, of which the company targets to achieve by 2020.
The company’s new objectives:
• Cover 40 percent of the total energy consumption from renewable and clean sources;
• Average 40 percent of the packaging to be recycled;
• Produce 20 percent of the PET bottles from recycled or renewable materials;
• Reduce packaging of the PET bottles by 25 percent per a liter of soft drink;
• A minimum of 95 percent of the most important agricultural raw materials will be purchased from sustainable agricultural sources;
• 2 percent of annual pre-tax profit will be spent on community development;
• Doubles, the number of employees to 10 percent who perform volunteer work during working hours;
