NGM: consumer protection was everywhere even in the summer
The Ministry responsible for consumer protection and the government offices under its professional supervision have been vigilant throughout the summer to protect Hungarian consumers – confirmed the Ministry of Economy (NGM) in its summary on Monday.
According to the announcement, in addition to the year-round, continuous inspection of commercial units, the inspection of places of special importance from a tourist point of view, such as liquor stores, music clubs, buffets, steakhouses and other catering establishments, has already begun since May.
Employees of the consumer protection authority continued their inspections at various festivals and events with the interests of consumers in mind, and also examined compliance with the regulations regarding taxis. Sun lotions, sunglasses, adventure parks and playgrounds were also checked. The tests help ensure that consumers have access to the individual products and services in the appropriate quality and safety, with maximum compliance with the rules.
The Ministry of National Economy, which is responsible for consumer protection, emphasizes that the inspections will not end after the summer period, and will continue intensively until the end of the year in order to protect families.
The employees of the consumer protection authority found fault with 37 percent of the nearly 400 catering establishments that were inspected, and this ratio was 28 percent of the approximately 100 public area or casual vendors examined.
