Our magazine asked Réka Szöllősi, managing director of the Federation of Responsible Food Manufacturers (FÉSZ) – formerly called Federation of Hungarian Food Industries (ÉFOSZ) about her idea: the Hello Food programme that helps consumers in deciding which product to buy.

She told that shoppers need to be familiar with their own needs and to know how to select the food products that satisfy these needs. Within the framework of the Hello Food programme, FÉSZ developed lots of online content that shoppers can read in-store on their smartphones, to make better decisions.

Hello Food basically asks questions, mapping consumer attitudes about processed foods. Based on the answers they will get to know shoppers better. Online content created by Hello Food focuses on questions many people are interested in; and if shoppers feel their opinion matters, they will be more likely to follow FÉSZ and receive information based on which they can make more conscious buying decisions. The programme makes it clear that it is a food industry initiative, they don’t wish to act as some kind of dietary expert: all they want is to make people feel better when they are buying food. //
