International research: job security is more important to young people than their salary
In recent years, it has become extremely important for employees to secure a job in the long term. This aspect is mostly an expectation for younger people, while for the older generations, good workplace relationships came to the fore, according to a joint international research by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), the Stepstone Group, and The Network and its Hungarian partner, Profession.hu.
In many cases, the answers of Hungarian workers differ from global trends.
Last year, the research organizations asked more than 150,000 workers from 188 countries about their employment preferences, and the answers clearly show the impact of technology development, especially artificial intelligence, on the labor market.
Security is typically important to younger people
Internationally, for the under-40 age group, long-term security is the most important factor when choosing a job. In second place, the answers were more varied: those under the age of 30 listed the possibility of career and development, while those aged 31-40 listed the balance of work and private life.
“Financial aspects and professional development have become slightly more important for employees globally than three years ago, but long-term job security has made the biggest progress on the list. Based on our surveys conducted in 2021 and 2023, the marked change in the order of importance of employees coincides with the widespread spread of software based on artificial intelligence: the long-term safety of the workplace has moved from seventh place to first”
Ádám Kotsis, BCG partner, summarized the most outstanding result of the research.
