Beyond Burger to roll out in over 1600 Rewe shops in Germany
In Germany, Beyond Meat, the producer of plant-based meat, is expanding rapidly. Starting this November, the Beyond Burger products will be available in over 1,600 Rewe shops throughout Germany.
The aim is to make “delicious plant-based meat products accessible to everyone”, Jaap Veth, Sales Manager Retail D-A-CH at Beyond Meat says. Half of Germans already consume less animal meat than they did five years ago. “One in five now consumes plant-based meat at least once a week. We are very proud to bring our popular Beyond Burger to more Rewe supermarkets. This way, people all over Germany will benefit from the advantages that plant-based meat has and can continue to eat what they love,” he continues.
Beyond Meat products are mostly available in the frozen food aisle and are available at major retailers in Germany.
The company entered the Austrian market nationwide in April 2021. The products, including burgers, bratwurst and minced meat, are available at Spar, Metro and Rewe (Billa, Billa Plus). In Austria, the meatless manufacturer also cooperates with McDonald’s, for example, whose McPlant contains a pattie from Beyond Meat.
In June 2022, Beyond Meat products were available in around 183.000 retail shops and restaurants in over 90 countries.
