The highest VAT is in Hungary in the region
All countries in the Central and Eastern European region focus on traffic and consumption taxes. While VAT is the highest in Hungary, but at the same time the corporate income tax is the lowest – according to the Mazars CEE TaxGuide 2017 of the Mazars International Auditing and Consulting Company.Í
The publication presents the tax environment of 19 countries (including the Visegrád countries, Greece, Russia, Ukraine, all former Yugoslav successor states, Albania and the Baltic states).
H. Nagy Dániel, senior tax manager at Mazars, said at the press conference that the VAT in the majority of the countries is between 19 and 22 percent, and although several products were included in the preferential rate, the highest VAT rate can be found in Hungary: 27 percent. (MTI)
