NAK: Don’t accumulate! There will be enough food in Hungary!
Hungary is an agri-industrial country, a serious exporter, and our country’s self-sufficiency is about 120 percent of its basic food. In the current emergency, this has a particular importance: the domestic agriculture and food industry is constantly able to provide food to the population.
Due to its characteristics, Hungary is not only a self-sufficient food but also a significant food exporter. Our country is capable of self-sufficiency of about 120 percent of basic food, but the country’s production potential can be increased to 150 percent. The food industry is the third largest manufacturing sector in Hungary, with 5,400 active food companies employing directly about 100,000 people, processing 65 percent of the raw materials produced by Hungarian agriculture into quality food.
