According to HelloPay’s representative research, 75% percent of Hungarian internet users aged 18-65 years visit different restaurants with some frequency, and one in four respondents are always happy to tip anywhere if they are satisfied with the service. 75% of those surveyed are aware of the difference between tip and service charge. The survey clearly shows that payment by debit card (70%) is now more frequent than cash payment (59%) in restaurants and bars. When paying with a debit card, 71% of respondents tip in some way – 48% do it in cash.
