MNB: households became richer with six percent of the GDP last year
In 2018, households increased their savings with 2985 billion HUF and took new loans in a value of 441 billion HUF, ie by increasing their net assets by 2544 billion HUF.
This is equivalent to 6.0 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). Including interest and yields reaching 44,797 billion HUF at the end of the year, ie it exceeded the amount of the 41,469 billion HUF annual GDP – according to the latest data on the financial accounts of the national economy, available on the website of MNB.
