Slaughter pig producer prices are decreasing
In the United States, the price of pork was 1.94 dollars (USD)/kilogram cold carcass weight in February 2025, which was a 15.6 percent increase compared to a year earlier. In Brazil, the price of pork (12.61 Brazilian real/kilogram cold carcass weight) increased by almost 36 percent during the same period.

In the European Union, the slaughterhouse entry price of pigs belonging to the “E” commercial class was 1.80 euros/kilogram cold carcass weight in February 2025, a 13.1 percent decrease in one year. The majority of companies and slaughterhouses that are decisive for the EU pig market did not change the pig purchase price in the 11th week of 2025 compared to a week earlier, but they were on average 17.5 percent lower than the average price of the same week of the previous year. The German contract price, Tönnies and Vion purchase prices were both 1.72 euros/kilogram carcass weight in the observed week. Tican bought pigs at 1.42 and Danish Crown at 1.39 euros/kilogram carcass weight in week 11. According to AKI PÁIR data, the producer price of domestically produced slaughter pigs, excluding VAT and transport costs, was 683 forints/kilogram carcass warm weight in February 2025, a 14.4 percent decrease compared to the average price a year earlier.
